Summer workwear during the UAE midday break: what site teams should wear

Every summer from 15 June to 15 September, the UAE bans outdoor work under direct sunlight between 12:30pm and 3:00pm. The rule — officially the Occupational Heat Stress Prevention Policy, issued under Ministerial Resolution No. 44 of 2022 — is now in its 22nd year, and employers face fines of Dh5,000 per worker (up to Dh50,000) for breaches, as reported by The National and Gulf News.

What the rule requires from employers

Beyond stopping outdoor work in the ban window, MoHRE requires shaded rest areas, drinking water and cooling means such as fans at work locations, with inspectors monitoring compliance through field visits. If your crews work split morning and evening shifts through the summer, their uniforms are being worn — and washed — harder than at any other time of year.

What that means for workwear

When we cut summer coveralls and two-piece workwear for site crews, three practical things matter most:

• Fabric weight and weave. The same coverall pattern can be cut in different twill weights. For summer rotations, many of our industrial clients order a lighter-weight batch alongside their standard set. With 3,000+ fabrics in the library, we can sample both and let the site team judge.
• More sets per worker. Split shifts mean a piece may be soaked through by mid-morning. Ordering additional sets per worker keeps laundering cycles realistic — and with a 50-piece minimum that includes free logo printing, topping up mid-season is straightforward.
• Repairs and replacements, fast. Because cutting, stitching and embroidery all happen in our own Deira workshop, express pieces can be turned around within 24 hours when a crew is short.
